ICYMI: Skeletons, pit lane acrobatics, and the most epic photo bombs yet in the best social media from Mexico City

Carlos Sainz stormed to an impressive victory at the Mexico City Grand Prix, bringing Ferrari even closer to the battle at the top of the constructors’ standings. But alongside the thrilling action on track, there was plenty happening off it at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. Here’s all the best social media that you might have missed from the weekend, ranging from acrobatic moves in the pit lane through to some epic photo bombing…
The atmosphere at the Mexico City Grand Prix is always something special and this year was no exception, with plenty of music, dancing and passionate support from the fans throughout the event.
Many in the paddock also took the opportunity to get into the local spirit, with home favourite Sergio Perez’s crew sporting lucha libre masks while the Red Bull drivers made some new friends ahead of the Day of the Dead celebrations.

The mysterious Mario Achi has long been a regular guest when F1 visits Mexico, but his true identity remains unknown.
Or does it? Mercedes seemed to unmask the real Mario Achi via social media over the weekend and you might just recognise him as a certain Mexican racing driver…

When he wasn’t seemingly acting as Mario Achi, Esteban Gutierrez was among those to participate in some hi-jinks in the paddock, with the Mercedes development driver taking part in a game of Giant Jenga with the squad’s 2025 signing Kimi Antonelli.
Elsewhere, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri faced off as they attempted to land hoops on an inflatable cactus. While this may sound like fun, the McLaren boys soon discovered that it is much harder than it looks…

Ferrari hit the headlines for their strong performance on track in Mexico, but the team also caught the eye thanks to an acrobatic moment for one of their mechanics in the pit lane.
Cameras watched as the Scuderia crew member took a tumble while directing Charles Leclerc out of the garage – before quickly jumping back up again and fortunately giving a thumbs-up to indicate that he was okay.

While that mechanic looked to be doubling up as a gymnast, another person seemingly trying their hand at another skill was Alex Albon.
The Williams driver had a go at holding the boom microphone so often seen around the paddock as Netflix compile footage for Drive to Survive. It appears that Albon may need a bit of practice, though, as he poked the boom towards Oscar Piastri’s face.

Seeing teams and drivers pose together for a celebratory photo following a victory or strong result is nothing unusual. What is a bit unexpected, however, is for a member of a rival squad to run into the middle of the shot – something that happened not once but twice following the Mexico City Grand Prix.
As Ferrari toasted their one-three result with Carlos Sainz, Charles Leclerc and the whole crew, Sainz’s former boss – McLaren CEO Zak Brown – decided to get in on the event by pulling off an epic photo bomb.

Not to be outdone, Sainz returned the favour when the McLaren team assembled for their own post-race photo.
In terms of podium celebrations, Mexico City definitely delivered as Carlos Sainz literally rose up to the rostrum to toast his victory.
It marked the end of what had been a memorable race day at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez for the Spanish driver and his many fans.
